Mars, a possible site for life in our solar system

Erosion features on Mars resemble those seen on earth

Mars orbiters have mapped the current water availability of the planet.

Martian sedimentary rocks and layered rocks along a road cut.

Martian "blueberries". Note the presence of layered sedimentary rocks in the
first image. Blueberries form under the influence of water.

Other Possibilities for Life in our Solar System

Europa and other moons orbiting Jupiter

Io has an atmosphere and is geologically active. It is possible that it could
support life.

Europa (also a Jovian moon) is surrounded by a sea of frozen organic compounds
and water. Deeper down, the material is liquid and could support life.

One of Saturn's moons, Titan, has properties that may have allowed the evolution
of life. Cassini Mission is
here. A
quickie on the Cassini-Huygens mission is here.
