Fighting Fish Data With Hormones
The table below shows the summary data for the time until a behavior is seen for all classes of behaviors. These data were pooled from the results of four groups of students. A Mann-Whitney test showed that there was no difference in the timing of the behaviors when control vs. dosed animals were compared. Notice, however, that the mean values for all of the control animals is less than the dosed animals (with the exception of membrane swelling). A Chi-square test to test the assumption that controls and means should have similar distributions of early- vs. late behaviors was significant (χ²= 4.50, p< 0.05).
