Fun in the Arctic!




For some species the warmer climate has caused heated tempers and breakdowns in their normal social behavior.



Warmer days have stressed polar bears and have increased parent-offspring conflicts.




Warmer climates and melting ice have reduced the normally high coefficient of friction at the interface between a polar bear's paws and surface snow .



Polar bears are required to take breaks from their normal activities during the hottest of the summer days.



Some polar bears have begun to drink and drunkenly play with other species.



Arctic wolves have responded with in increase in sexual behavior.



In those areas where global warming has allowed livestock introductions, well-fed arctic wolves have time to pursue recreational activities.



Unencumbered by sea ice, penguins can now move freely though the ocean.
