Human Nature Final Assignment The Powerpoint Presentation is due Monday at 8:30. The paper must be e-mailed to me by Friday at noon.

The Final Assignment for Human Nature must fulfill the following requirements:

  1. You must collect data related to some aspect of human behavior. Some examples of past projects are found here. You can browse the human behavior web for other ideas here.
  2. The project should be related to innate human behaviors (ETHOLOGY), rather than learned behaviors (PSYCHOLOGY)
  3. You may work in groups of two. If your project will require a larger group, e-mail me with an explanation.
  4. The data must be comparative (male vs. female; on campus vs. off-campus, young vs.old; etc.)
  5. The data must be quantitative. Examples include counts of the number of times a behavior is observed, distance between individuals, amount of time, etc.
  6. The data must be plotted using Excel. Excel basics are here.
  7. The project will be presented as a PowerPoint Presentation during the final exam period
  8. You must also E-mail me a written report by the last day of the final exam period by 12:00 noon. If you are working in a group, a single report will be fine..
  9. The written report should reference at least one web site related to your project.
  10. If for any reason you cannot present the report or you do not e-mail me your written report, you will receive an incomplete for this course.

Tell me what your thinking about (phone, e-mail, drop by) and I may have some ideas to make your project more fun/interesting. Feel free to illustrate your project with pictures from the web (how to copy a picture is here). You can also scan images from a magazine. I can digitize single frames from a video or short video sequences (get this done early, since I need to do this at home). The department has a digital camera you can use (again, do this early).
