Aibo ERS 210

The ERS 210 can recognize about 70 voice commands (speaker independent). The computer is a 64-bit RISK processor running at 384 MHz. The robot is useless as it comes in the box since personality memory sticks must be purchased separately. The 110/111 series could not be connected to a LAN card, but is programmable. I have not worked with the 31x series, but they have similar capabilities (except for LAN connections). The 31x series can also be programmed. The ERS 210 series has a propensity to develop DHS (Droopy Head Syndrome) where the neck clutch wears out so the robot can no longer lift it's head. When this happens the robot interprets the condition as a jam and shuts down. Instructions for fixing the Aibo can be found under the DHS button at the top of the page. Sony has finally fixed the problem and replacement heads will not develop DHS. General specifications for the 210 are here

Aibo Energy Station.

With programming, a voltage drop will initiate search behavior (looking for a green-blue-pink column) followed by approach. The concentric blue green circles, along with the column are used for orientation. The Aibo will mount the station and charge. Once charging is complete, the Aibo will leave the station.
